Thanks, Ricky and all!

Today my quilt, Tucson, was selected as the Quilt of the Day on The Quilt Show with Ricky Tims' blog. I feel so honored. Here is the quilt, which was based on a photograph I took at the Sonoran Desert Museum in Tucson.  You can see my other quilts posted at www.thequiltshow.com.

More Kaleidoscope Quilts

Today I taught more of Ricky Tims' Kool Kaleidoscope Quilts in a local quilt shop. I had 17 students. Here is an in-process quilt designed by Mary Johns of the Sunrise Stitchers Chapter of the Arizona Quilters Guild. She writes, "It reminds me of summer in the city so that's what i think I'll call it." I can't wait to see it once it is completed. Great job, Mary.

NQA Show Entries

My award-winning quilts from the Arizona Quilters Guild Annual Show have been accepted into the NQA Show in Columbus, Ohio in June. 

Peyton Manning Childrens Hospital

Today I donated ten baby and children's quilts to Peyton Manning Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Moab

My quilt, Moab, which features Delicate Arch, won a second place ribbon at the Arizona Quilters Guild Annual Quilt Show today. Moab is made with Ricky Tims' hand-dyed fabric and is an original design based on Ricky's Rhapsody quilt method. The quilt was inspired by a trip to Moab to see the arch in 2002 with my beloved son. I am on the left and Sharon Brooks, my quilter, is shown on the right.

Big Red Ribbon!!!

My quilt, "Unleashed", which tells the story of New Orleans and post-Katrina changes, won a second place red ribbon at the Arizona Quilters Guild Annual Show today. Sharon Brooks quilted the quilt. It was entered into the Applique-Small-Professional category. Professional refers to the quilter.

Today we are working on making ATC's for trades. Ahhh, painting is so relaxing.

Fun at the Fire Department

Despite being displaced from our classroom, great fun was had by all in the small group in Gold Canyon today as we had the 2nd session of the Kool Kaleidoscope class. One student sustained a minor injury, but a nearby firefighter rushed to her rescue (and bandaged the finger she had cut with her scissors). She didn't require oxygen out of the many available tanks. Some of the gals actually got stitching done, go Alicia!
