Zoe's Lino Blocks
Here are two of Zoe's lino blocks that she generously shared with Grandma... I'm sure they will show up in my future quilts.

Fun at the Fire Department
Despite being displaced from our classroom, great fun was had by all in the small group in Gold Canyon today as we had the 2nd session of the Kool Kaleidoscope class. One student sustained a minor injury, but a nearby firefighter rushed to her rescue (and bandaged the finger she had cut with her scissors). She didn't require oxygen out of the many available tanks. Some of the gals actually got stitching done, go Alicia!

Felting in Progress
First we laid out the fibers, in this case, merino (in red-orange), and then the embellishments (yellow circles and natural yarns, a little pink angelina for sparkle in between the layers of fiber). Yes, I'm a glitter girl.
Then the wet felting begins, roll 'em, roll 'em, roll 'em. And, of course, there's the drying time (much longer in the climate of San Diego with the ocean than in Phoenix in the desert).
On the 2nd morning, we cut the piece into squares so that they could be individually embellished with hand stitching and beads. If you look closely, you may see a touch of the stitching and beadwork in a couple of the lower blocks.
And, I'm off to a good start...

More on Jane La Fazio
This 2-day class is great fun. I'd really recommend Jane highly as a teacher. She's very supportive and enthusiastic. This is some of her inspirational work and next I'll show my work in progress...

Felting with Jane LaFazio
I'm fascinated with Jane LaFazio's lovely hand-stitching on her wet felting, so we've gone off to San Diego to learn her techniques. I met her last August at Art Unraveled here in Phoenix, but I signed up for Mellie Testa's class on soy wax batik for that day, and of course Jane is not teaching the same classes this year. To see the schedule at Art Unraveled, go to www.artunraveled.com. Here are some of the photos from the class.
My friend, Ingrid, is new to felting and is creating an ocean-themed piece. It's wonderful1

UPDATE: I PURCHASED AN EPSON 1100 FOR ME!
Having taken Beth Wheeler's Altered Photo Artistry class and hearing that she ran out and purchased an Epson Workforce 1100 with the individual cartridges of Durabrite inks, I imitated her and ran out and bought my own whiel Office Max had them on sale for $129. I've taught Imagery on Fabrics for 15 years, but these new pigment inks are so much more durable than the dye-based inks and I have to keep up with the changing technology. Now I am up-to-date. Thanks, Beth and Lori!
